With the stifling summer months fast approaching, there is nothing better than heading to The Chedi Muscat for the weekend to enjoy their fantastic Summer Breeze offer, which gives GCC residents the perfect excuse to escape the desert heat and relax in Zen-like surroundings. Available from 15th April to 30th September, the offer allows guests to wile away the sizzling days in the swimming pools and stunning grounds of the idyllic hotel. Last weekend, I was lucky enough to be whisked off to this beach-side spot, for a weekend of R&R and of course, a lot of food!
Those of you who have visited The Chedi before will understand the instant calm you feel as soon as you enter the Arabesque-style lobby, a feeling which long continues throughout the idyllic grounds, which are surrounded by beautiful palm trees and small ponds with calming water features. The fun doesn’t stop there – our rooms, the spacious Chedi Club Suites, were definitely a step above the rest! The suite comprised of a living room complete with a complimentary fully-stocked mini bar, nuts and fruit. The bedroom was vast with a TV full of movies, promising to keep you entertained for hours. However the main highlight was the bathroom, with a huge rain shower and even larger tub (you could basically swim in it!).
Rates are from 99 OMR per room per night* and those spending two nights or more receive one complimentary three-course dinner for two at The Restaurant, where they can dine on an array of exquisite international cuisine. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all on offer at this award-winning spot and believe me, none disappoint! Breakfast is large enough without being overwhelming, with a lovely selection of a la carte options to complement your fruit and yogurt (the Eggs Benedict is a winner!). Lunch is a selection of a la carte options comprising of seafood and international food, however the Friday brunch is the main event. Serving from 2pm onwards, the extensive buffet serves a selection of Mediterranean, Thai, Indian and Arabic food with an excellent station serving sushi, sashimi and big, juicy oysters. The glass noodle salad is also superb, as is the selection of homemade macaroons, cakes and chocolates. The dinner selection boasts the same style of food with highlights coming in the form of the Lobster Masala Curry and the Tandoori Prawns.
From food to pool, full bellies can spend the days cooling down at one of the hotel’s three temperature-controlled swimming pools, including the breathtaking 103 metre Long Pool, the region’s longest and the beachside Chedi Pool, both of which feature plush shaded daybeds. Throughout the day, you can re-hydrate on fresh juices brought to your lounger or head to The Chedi Pool Cabana for light bites from the Mediterranean-inspired menu, taking advantage of the 20% discount on food and beverages. For families with children, The Serai Pool has ample awnings to provide welcome shade in and around the water.
As the midday heat hits, we slipped off to take refuge in The Spa, which offers the perfect haven to cool down and replenish. With a 30% discount on all treatments, you can indulge in a reviving body polish ritual such as the Voya Fucus Luscious Organic Salt Glow, ideal for rejuvenating tired skin, leaving it feeling velvety and dewy soft.
From the spa, we headed to The Studio to practice our sun salutations with a complimentary Yoga class with perfect views of the sea cascading up to the shore. Non-yogis can keep fit in the air-conditioned The Health Club, which includes state-of-the-art equipment, such as the Kinesis wall and Pilates equipment. A weekend at The Chedi is a MUST for all looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Dubai, even if it’s only for 24hrs. This is definitely a weekend retreat you won’t regret.
